Ground Zero¶
Location: Jerusalem — eastern Mediterranean coast, on the supercontinent.
Six layers of meaning on one location. The player peels them back across the pilgrimage.
The Six Layers¶
1. Nuclear Impact Site¶
The surface reading. WW3 hit Jerusalem — the city was already a target before the merge. The name "Ground Zero" comes from the secular survivors who saw the crater and named what they saw. Most humans in the merged world use this name. It refers to the war. The deeper meanings are invisible at the surface.
2. Merge Convergence Point¶
Where three realms met. Heaven crashed down, Hell erupted up, and Earth was compressed between them. The merge's epicenter. The collision produced the most extreme spatial distortion on the planet — the geography here is layered, fractured, folded. Celestial gold and volcanic red-black interweave at street level. Buildings carry three architectural styles stacked in the same walls. The old city's stone is fused with materials from both other realms.
3. God's Birthplace¶
Where the tribrid was born. The merge produced God at the point of maximum convergence — three realms, three natures, one being. The player was born here and raised in Eden. Different locations. The journey between them is the game's geographic spine. Gabriel built his cathedral on the exact spot without knowing why — his faith drew him to the birthplace before anyone knew a birth had occurred.
4. Fold Network Hub¶
Every fold line radiates from Ground Zero. The merge epicenter is the hub of the spatial rift system. To access the fold network — the only way to reach the Apex and the Nadir — the player must pass through Ground Zero. The geography forces the theological encounter: the fold network runs through Gabriel's church.

5. Michael's Engineering Center¶
Jerusalem was one of Michael's primary religion sites — the geographic center of the Abrahamic iteration, his most sophisticated containment system. The city already carried millennia of engineered faith when the merge hit. The convergence wasn't random. The merge broke along the lines Michael's engineering had stressed — the places where belief was strongest became the places where reality was weakest.
6. Gabriel's Cathedral¶
Gabriel built the dominant post-merge structure here — his main cathedral, the center of Gabriel's Church. He repaired the Dome of the Rock with golden seam material — ancient stones held by faith and engineering simultaneously. The cathedral is visible at map scale. The Prophet preaches at the exact coordinates where God was born, calling it holy ground, accidentally correct about the holiness and wrong about the reason.
The Engineering Triangle¶
Three structures near Ground Zero form a triangle the player can visit in a single exploration session — three buildings, three phases of the same engineer:
- The Ziggurat of Ur (former Iraq) — Michael's first religious infrastructure. The hopeful prototype. Built when the engineer still believed connection could work without containment. Partially collapsed from age, not the merge.
- The Pyramids of Giza (former Egypt) — the shift from connection to containment. Routing infrastructure built in stone. The River sensed and walled off. The oldest engineering that still stands. When Research reveals what the Pyramids actually are — Hell's baby picture — the player can see Michael's decline from hope to control in three buildings.
- Gabriel's Cathedral at Ground Zero — the latest iteration. The fiction's current center. Built by an angel, not the architect — but on the coordinates where the architect's engineering was densest.
The triangle is the player's first opportunity to see Michael's arc compressed into geography. Hope → containment → denial. Three eras. Three buildings. One engineer's descent.

The Player's Experience¶
The player encounters Ground Zero in Acts 2–3. At this stage, the name means WW3. The crater, the ruins, the cathedral — all readable as post-war reconstruction. Gabriel preaches from the cathedral. The player may hear sermons, encounter the Church, and pass through the fold network without understanding any layer below the surface.
After Lucifer's absorption in Act 5, the name gains its second and third meanings. After the Throne, all six are visible simultaneously. The same location, read six different ways across eighty hours. The geography doesn't change. The player's understanding does.
