Principal Character Visuals

The selected visual direction distinguishes Michael, Samael, Gabriel, Metatron, and Lucifer through construction, wing anatomy, posture, and movement. These are character-specific designs within the shared visual language, not new angel species or a moral ranking by appearance.

Selected Concept

The gameplay sheet remains a useful silhouette study:

Five gameplay concept panels: Michael with an articulated framework; Samael with ivory wings; Gabriel with softer cream wings; Metatron with three silver wing pairs; Lucifer with Hell-worn wings.

It is an AI-generated visual target, not an engine capture or evidence of achieved rendering performance. The sheet records contrast at gameplay distance; it does not establish the final faces or exact wing deployment. The current character-page portraits supersede its earlier one-pair Samael/Lucifer treatment.

The selected standalone set uses the project's modern stylised 3D direction: painterly materials under real light, broad tonal bands, sacred-art composition, and readable physical silhouettes. All images in this set are AI-generated concepts, not engine captures.

The written anatomy and construction below govern production where the paintings are ambiguous. Michael's shoulder trim must not become a harness: the wings grow from integrated scapular roots. Samael and Lucifer need six readable wing pairs where the surviving anatomy allows it, while Lucifer's damaged roots and missing spans remain asymmetrical. The earlier gameplay sheet's generic player and encounter staging remain illustrative; Samael's authored restoration still occurs during Lucifer's absorption.

Current Portraits

Michael in a celestial workshop with void-like integrated engineering wings.

Samael as a radiant twelve-winged archangel in Heaven.

Gabriel in weathered ivory linen and a repaired blue mantle, with broad cream wings.

Metatron with six silver-grey wings arranged in three pairs.

Lucifer with the damaged remains of his twelve-winged form.

The portraits establish identity and physical design. The compressed WebP files are used for page display. Full-resolution PNG originals remain available for production reference: Michael, Samael, Gabriel, Metatron, and Lucifer.

Michael: Architecture as an Extension of the Body

Michael remains person-shaped, weathered but not aged, with exposed builder's hands and the underlying resemblance to the player and The Kid. His fitted work clothing uses precise seams, ordered closures, and sparse, purposefully placed instruments. Wear belongs on working surfaces and cuffs. His posture is compressed and his gestures economical: concentration and control communicate his engineering instinct. He has no darkfire mark.

His distinctive silhouette is an integrated void-like architectural wing system behind his shoulders and along his upper back. A narrow spinal rail and recessed scapular roots feed a few broad matte structural spars, precise pivots, and negative spaces that flatten or erase the Heaven behind them. At rest, the wings fold into a compact geometric outline behind his coat. During work or threat, they open into an incomplete eclipse or negative cathedral: a physically coherent construction that can hold, measure, redirect, and assemble around his hands. The absence is clean, mathematical, and sterile, not demonic. His face and hands remain exposed; the person must not disappear inside the apparatus.

Under threat, the same constructed members can extend into architectural wings that support barriers, redirect forces, or connect to the Throne's machinery. This is an engineered display or defence, not natural angel anatomy or proof of divinity. Void-like material does not grant a new supernatural power: the surrounding loss of colour and shadow is a presentation treatment tied to the apparatus. Exact combat use and deployment timing remain to be specified under the existing physics and magic contracts; the concept grants no automatic defence or new power exemption. Avoid backpack straps, harnesses, arbitrary gears, feather blades, bulky robotic armour, halos, enclosing rings, or a generic magical circle substituting for legible construction.

Samael: The Original Equal

Samael is a radiant twelve-winged primordial equal: six distinct physical pairs surround an otherwise beautiful humanoid figure. Upper pairs rise behind the head, middle pairs extend outward, and lower pairs frame the body and descend around the legs. The wings are real anatomy, not a halo or energy effect. His expression is intelligent, proud, and severe; the radiance is almost painful, but his face remains readable.

Samael stands outside the angelic bureaucracy as Michael's equal; Metatron is the highest office-bearing angel and Voice of Michael's engineered "God". This is not a universal wing-count hierarchy.

Samael and Lucifer are the same person. Preserve facial bone structure, eye shape, hair identity, and the underlying twelve-wing architecture across both appearances. Lucifer's Hell-worn form must imply all six pairs even when they have fused, collapsed, or been destroyed. Michael must not accidentally resemble Lucifer more strongly than Samael does.

Gabriel: Belonging and Warmth

Gabriel has one broad, enveloping pair with softer contours, rounded feather masses, and warm cream colouring in the selected concept. Comfortable folds and relaxed movement support a grounded, welcoming presence. He looks at home in Heaven's beauty. His wings can frame another person without making every conversation a ceremonial display. His warmth is sincere; beauty is not a guarantee that his beliefs are correct.

Weathered ivory linen, a repaired blue mantle, dusty sandals, tousled hair, and an uneven beard give him a humble, slightly dishevelled, messianic presence. He meets people at their level. Avoid ceremonial plate boots and immaculate regal styling; his relatability comes through worn clothing, patient gestures, and exposed, working hands.

Metatron: The Voice and the Human Within

Metatron, the highest office-bearing angel and Voice of "God", has three articulated wing pairs in the selected design. They are a specialized seraphic arrangement of his converted angelic body, not a new biological species, a universal rank system, or a claim about biblical anatomy. He speaks for Michael's engineered fiction before the real God exists; his office does not make him Samael's equal or superior, and it does not remove his installed ceiling.

Folded, the six wings form a tall, precise architectural enclosure. Opened, the upper pair rises, the middle pair extends outward, and the lower pair sweeps down outside his robes. Each pair needs a readable root, joint structure, and silhouette; they must not merge into an indistinct feather fan. Silver-grey treatment and controlled symmetry distinguish him from Samael and Gabriel.

When he speaks with authority, the pairs can unfold in measured succession. That is physical performance direction, not a new voice power or a mandatory event in every conversation. His face stays visible inside the imposing structure. Pauses, lingering attention, stillness, and gentleness carry Enoch's human grief beneath the converted certainty. The apparatus of authority should amplify that contrast rather than erase the person.

Lucifer: Samael After the Wound

Lucifer retains Samael's twelve-wing body plan, but Hell has changed its condition and carriage. Several pairs have fused into blackened masses, several have collapsed or hang from scarred roots, and others split open to show surviving pale feathers. Cinder-fused layers, infernal repair plates, soot, corrosion, red-black sigils, and restrained ember fissures make his demonic history physical without replacing his personhood. His soot-darkened blond hair remains recognizably Samael's. The portrait uses the same long, loose, center-parted hair, charcoal scale-textured shirt and armour, muted trim, and pale underlayer; Hell's red-orange light belongs to the environment and ember fissures, not a change in his material palette.

The damaged wing pairs are heavy and guarded, held close like armour around a wound. Their opening gives him scale and presence, while their weight and asymmetry communicate accumulated suffering. They remain functional anatomy under the same flight, fatigue, collision, and injury rules as other physical wings. Their scale, damage, or blackfire seams grant no invulnerability. Avoid generic horns, tails, bat wings, or a monster face.

During the authored absorption transformation, the twelve damaged wings become whole as Lucifer becomes Samael again, briefly, before absorption completes. This is recognition of the person who was there throughout, not a replacement creature or an unrelated combat form. Later restoration choices remain governed by the existing story and consent rules.

Forms During Play

Ordinary wings are visible anatomy, including while folded. Walking, working, or talking does not automatically hide them, and opening them is not itself a secret true-form reveal. Clothing, equipment, doors, furniture, and encounter space must accommodate their physical volume. Wing roots, supporting musculature, folding clearance, contact, and injury require coherent implementations; Metatron's additional pairs cannot be merely decorative geometry passing through his body or the environment.

Michael's deployment is constructed and void-like. Lucifer's damaged twelve-wing form makes the fall legible before the restoration reveal. Metatron's six-wing display expresses his office without requiring a separate monster transformation. More alien guardian, wheel, ritual, and throne-vision imagery remains contextual to Heaven's deeper architecture; it is not a hidden alternate body for every named character.

Gameplay Presentation

Use the camera contract to keep the complete physical player and relevant actions readable. Do not default to a cropped shoulder composition. Wings, garments, apparatus, nearby characters, and navigable space must remain readable together, with contact shadows, restrained bloom, and material detail appropriate to camera distance. Movement is produced by the body and controller, not newly prescribed authored animation clips.

Combat communicates bodily consequences, not hit-point subtraction. No whole-body or per-limb HP bars, floating damage numbers, or replacement stamina pool should be inferred from these images. Wound and regeneration feedback presents injury locations, impaired movement, fatigue, bleeding, and recovery. The interface contract preserves accessible equivalents and the absorption counter's separate narrative role. Real and Present God retain survival feedback; True God loses the persistent fictional survival measurement overlay while retaining inspection and usable interface.
